WHO IS WHO

Günter Exel

Tales from the Edge is a studio project inspired by the great rock operas of our time, telling the story of an apocalyptic world. HE is the first part of a trilogy, which I composed, recorded, programmed, arranged, mixed and mastered over a period of two years.

The protagonists include Patrick Jud, Mickey Rush and Raphaela Exel, whose voices brought the project to life. I am extremely grateful to them, as without them it would not have been possible. All three are also responsible for all the choirs and background vocals. I would like to give special mention to Raphaela for her inspiring help in writing the lyrics.

I am also very grateful to Frico Friedmann, who contributed his seemingly endless expertise to shaping the sound of the album.

Special thanks go to Alan King, who served as editor, Uschi Schratt for the cover artwork, and Joe Vigerl for the photo.

I would also like to thank Kathi Sommer for her ongoing support in taking care of all the IT-related stuff.

And last but not least, my heartfelt thanks go to Iris, my rock in all situations!

Patrick Jud

HE

Patrick took on the role of HE and, with his sensitive voice, breathed life into the character, conveying his insecurity and self-doubt. From gentle sounds to screaming, lamenting, desperate tones, his vocal repertoire encompasses all the facets needed to skillfully bring HE to life.

Mickey Rush

THE SENT ONE

With his smoky, aggressive voice, Mickey always puts THE SENT ONE at the centre of the action. He lives the role as if it were created especially for him. His musicality and creativity give his parts, especially the polyphonic passages, an outstanding quality.

Raphaela Exel

THE SEERESS

As the SEERESS, Raphaela is the ideal counterpoint to the despair of HE and the aggressiveness of THE SENT ONE. Her clear, soothing voice perfectly conveys the purity and superiority of this character in the overall context of the album. Her creativity has particularly shaped the choir passages, in which she was also able to emphasise her ‘loud side’.
